MyNavy HR Career Development Symposium Heads to Europe

MILLINGTON, Tenn.—MyNavy HR is taking career development resources directly to Sailors serving overseas during Career Development Symposium (CDS) Europe, with events scheduled at Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Greece, Sept. 18, Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy, Sept. 21, and Naval Station Rota, Spain, Sept. 23.

This three-stop symposium will connect Sailors across the Europe naval bases with MyNavy HR leadership and subject matter experts, giving them direct access to the people, information, and resources behind some of the most important decisions impacting their Navy careers.

For Sailors stationed overseas, that face-to-face access can make a crucial difference.

“Career Development Symposium is about meeting Sailors where they are and making sure they have the information they need to make informed decisions about their careers,” said Commander, Navy Personnel Command Rear Adm. Kevin Kennedy. “By bringing our experts directly to the fleet, we can answer questions, listen to Sailor feedback, and help them better understand the opportunities available to them.”

CDS Europe begins Sept. 18 at NSA Souda Bay with an all-hands call featuring MyNavy HR leadership and representatives for Billet-Based Advancement policy. The symposium then travels to NSA Naples on Sept. 21 for a full-day event. Sailors will have the opportunity to attend an all-hands call, participate in briefs, and visit MyNavy HR trade show booths where subject matter experts provide information and answer questions on professional development resources available at CDS such as the U.S. Naval Community College, Tuition Assistance, Navy COOL, and Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU). Sailors also have the chance to talk with detailers, enlisted community managers, and command pay and personnel administrators.

On Sept. 23, Naval Station Rota hosts the final day of CDS with another full-day tradeshow that includes a face-to-face engagement for Professional Apprenticeship Career Track (PACT) Sailors looking to strike a rate.

The symposium also gives MyNavy HR leadership an opportunity to hear directly from the warfighting fleet. Sailors are encouraged throughout CDS to ask questions, provide feedback, and share their experiences with personnel programs and policies.

From detailing and advancement to broader career development resources, CDS is designed to give Sailors greater access to the knowledge and tools they need to take an active role in their Navy careers.
